For many years, Lauren carried stories, not only of the physical and emotional processes of dying, but also the spiritual.

She presided at over 700 memorials, and supported many more through the processes of dying during her eleven years as the Manager of Spiritual Health for the Northern Health Authority. She also co-facilitated the Complicated Grief Group for seven years.

This multidisciplinary exhibition, “…in conversation with Death,” tells stories which defy any narrow religious tradition. Through artworks and installations, the exhibition includes gut-wrenching stories of grief and loss, but also stories of wonder, end-of-life humour, and visitations from beyond.

The artist also explores her own near-death experience and the losses of loved ones dear to her. As an aging person healing from cancer, she also converses with her own impending Death. Death is an ongoing relationship throughout one’s life.

This interactive exhibition brings intimate stories of Death to the observer, facilitates conversations about death and dying, may alleviate some of the fear of Death, and promotes healing from the loss of loved ones.
